Mazlan Halim, IT Consultant and Systems Builder
About Mazlan Halim

I build technology that makes businesses work better.

I’m Mazlan Halim, an IT Consultant & Systems Builder based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

For more than 16 years, I’ve been building, fixing and improving websites and digital systems for businesses and organisations in Malaysia, Australia, the UK and the US.

But these days, I rarely see my job as simply “building websites.”

That is the kind of problem I enjoy solving.

Where the approach began

From fixing servers to building business systems

My background goes deeper than website design.

Before focusing fully on web development, I worked in Level 3 technical support at Hewlett-Packard, troubleshooting Windows server environments for a US client.

That experience taught me something that still influences how I work today:

Don’t just fix what is visible. Find out what is actually causing the problem.

Since 2009, I have worked extensively with WordPress and web technologies, building everything from company websites and landing pages to e-commerce stores, custom plugins, integrations and content-driven platforms.

I later worked as a Senior WordPress Developer with Pounce Agency and Splice Marketing, developing and maintaining websites for Australian organisations, including healthcare businesses.

That work involved much more than making pages look good: custom WordPress development, Advanced Custom Fields, performance optimisation, technical SEO, third-party integrations, security, analytics and ongoing maintenance.

Today, those different areas come together in my independent consulting work.

Experience in practice

Why that experience matters to my clients

01

I look beyond the website

Sometimes the website is the problem. Sometimes it is only where the problem becomes visible.

The real issue might be hosting, an integration, poor search visibility, duplicated data, a manual business process or several tools that should be working together but aren’t.

Because I work across these areas, I can look at the bigger picture before recommending what should be built.

02

I don’t push technology for the sake of technology

AI is useful. Automation is useful. Custom development is useful—but only when they solve a real problem.

If WordPress can handle something well, I will use WordPress. If an existing service is better than developing from scratch, I will recommend it.

If a simple solution can save you from paying for a complicated one, I would rather tell you that upfront.

03

You work directly with the person doing the work

I am not a large agency with layers of account managers between you and the technical person.

You deal directly with me. I listen to the problem, help determine the right approach and handle the technical implementation.

That usually means fewer misunderstandings, faster decisions and a solution that stays closer to what the business actually needs.

Business outcomes first

What I Can Help You With

Each service begins with the result the business needs, then uses the technology that fits.

WordPress Development

New websites, redesigns, custom functionality, WooCommerce, custom plugins and improvements to existing WordPress sites.

The goal: A website that is reliable, easy to maintain and supports the business behind it.

Technical SEO & Website Performance

Improving search visibility, website structure, loading speed, Core Web Vitals and technical issues that may be holding a site back.

The goal: Make it easier for people and search engines to find and use your website.

AI & Automation

Using practical AI and automation to reduce repetitive work, process information and create smarter workflows.

The goal: Save time and let people focus on work that actually requires people.

Business Systems

Internal tools, workflow systems and custom solutions for organisations that have outgrown spreadsheets, WhatsApp messages and disconnected processes.

The goal: Make information easier to manage and day-to-day operations easier to see.

APIs & Integrations

Connecting websites, payment systems, booking platforms, analytics tools and other services.

The goal: Make existing technology work together instead of creating more manual work.

Website Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Updates, security, hosting problems, migrations, performance problems and technical issues that nobody else seems able to explain clearly.

The goal: Keep important websites working properly and reduce unpleasant surprises.

Practical range, direct relationship

Experience without the agency overhead

Over the years, I have worked with small businesses, agencies, corporate organisations, healthcare organisations and other institutions, supporting projects from straightforward websites to technically complex WordPress implementations.

My work has included clients and projects connected with:

Clients don’t hire me because I know a long list of technologies. They hire me because they need something to work.
Judgment before tools

A developer who thinks about the business

One thing has changed significantly during my years in technology: building has become easier.

There are better platforms, better development tools and now AI can dramatically accelerate certain types of work.

That makes knowing what to build more important than simply knowing how to build it.

Sometimes the answer is a better website. Sometimes it is SEO, automation or connecting two existing systems. And sometimes it is building something new.

The technology comes after understanding the problem.

A useful working relationship

Who I Work Best With

I work particularly well with business owners and organisations that know something needs to improve but aren’t necessarily sure what technology they need.

You don’t need to arrive with a technical specification.Tell me the problem instead.
  • Running a business with an outdated or underperforming website
  • Managing repetitive work that could potentially be automated
  • Trying to improve visibility on Google
  • Maintaining a WordPress site that has become difficult to manage
  • Using several systems that don’t work well together
  • Considering an internal system or custom application
  • Exploring where AI could genuinely help the organisation
  • Dealing with a technical problem that needs someone experienced to investigate it
Start with the situation

Let’s start with what isn’t working.

You don’t have to know whether you need WordPress, SEO, an API, automation, AI or a custom system. That’s part of what I can help you figure out.

Tell me what is happening now, what is frustrating you and what you would like to work better. From there, we can determine whether there is a practical solution worth pursuing.
